about

There are movies such as ‘The Road’ and ‘Bird Box’ and many a series on Netflix where an apocalyptic event has occurred and much of humanity has been wiped out. A common thread is the journey to a destination, a safe haven that usually involves a treacherous path fraught with danger. You could be slaying zombies, avoiding detection from cannibals or some hideous contaminant.
Directors are very good at injecting reality about the seriousness and danger that these travellers face and the tough decisions. My song is about one of these moments.

LYRICS - A Thousand Words (Debra Blaquiere)

1. We're sitting here
On the side of the road
Rain begins to fall
From dark clouds above us
2. Ours heads bowed down,
Facing the ground
Soaking it all
No words pass between us
B - I wish I knew, where to be today
As I close the suitcase
Turn the page, turn the page

Chorus; You took your wife, and your children home
You knew, what you had to do
You took your wife, and your children home
You knew, what you had to do

3. I have to write you a thousand words
And sketch you many times
So to sing you the saddest song
I keep you on my mind.
B - I wish I knew, where to be today
As I close the suitcase
Turn the page,

Chorus ; You took your wife, and your children home
You knew, what you had to do
You took your wife, and your children home
You knew, what you had to do
